Robert W. Kurkela is a nationally-renowned children's author as well as a gifted storyteller. Children and adults love his poetry. His listeners hang on every word. Robert is humorous, yet his poetry and the stories behind it are deeply themed and inspire reading and writing. The Author's Roadshow is in its fourth year and is a multi-media, interactive experience unlike any other. Robert utilizes a professional, portable  250 watt Fender PA system used by musicians. He wears a wireless headset microphone which allows him to move about freely and interact with the children. Two additional microphones lead from the PA so that the poetry can be recited by Robert and the students simultaneously. In addition to the PA, Robert has a portable 100" screen and Sharp projector on which he projects his book. He also shows a PowerPoint presentation on poetry and how it is interwoven in popular culture. The show can be tailored to suit your needs (auditoriums, cafeterias, time constraints, etc.). Two can be scheduled to accomodate larger audiences.

Robert is available for presentations at schools, libraries and organizations. THERE IS NO APPEARANCE FEE. Minimal travel expense reimbursement required. Take home order forms for autographed items such as books, bookmarks, pictures, frameable poems and posters are sent in advance of the appearance as part of a media package. Prices range from $1.00 to $16.95, giving students of all economic levels a chance to take away a signed item.
